Resting and Restoring Resources

1.Passive Resource Restoration

Restoring Mana:

A character's mana restores from 0 to their maximum in one hour. If it has been less than an hour, the GM can decide what percentage of mana has been restored.

2.Resting:

To restore health and sequence dice, characters can engage in multiple types of rest.

Setting Camp and Resting Anywhere

  1. Field Rest: quickly set up camp with minimal supplies and rest for a short period (between a half an hour and two hours). During this time, mana replenishes twice as quickly and 1 sequence die is restored every 5 minutes. Characters remain alert during a field rest.
  2. Field Nap: quickly set up camp with bedrolls and shelter, if needed. Nap for 2 hours with a risk of interruption (decided by the GM). If the nap is uninterrupted, sequence dice and mana are fully restored. If the nap is interrupted, it should be treated as if a character took a field rest for the time before the interruption. Characters may take field rests during the nap time to attempt to prevent interruptions for their allies. Napping characters are unconscious (see conditions)
  3. Field Camp: quickly set up a full camp with bedrolls and shelter. Characters may sleep or take watch, and getting 8 hours of sleep within 10 hours fully restores HP, mana, and sequence dice. Field camps may be interrupted.

Rest Interruptions: During a field nap or field camp, an interruption is any kind of activity that could wake a character. This is completely the decision of the DM, and could be any type of interaction.

Examples of methods to decide interruptions:

Roll a D8. On a 1, a violent interruption occurs that could cause combat (if the watchman doesn't prevent it). On a 2, a minor interruption occurs, like a loud merchant walking by announcing his wares.

The characters decide to rest in a moist ditch. Because of this poor choice, a stray cat drags its fresh prey under the nose of the mage so it can dine in a warm and dry spot.

Resting in Permanent Amenities:

  1. Rest: During this time, mana replenishes 4 times as fast and 10% of health can replenish. This type of rest can be taken in an inn, a tavern, a restaurant, a house, or any other appropriate type of structure.
  2. Nap: Nap for 2 hours. In this time, mana fully replenishes and 25% of health is restored. This type of rest must be taken on a bed.
  3. Sleep: Sleep for 8 hours. This fully restores HP, mana, and sequence dice. This type of rest must be taken on a bed.
